Have you met April Smith?

Friend. Social media authority. Kick-ass girl boss.

Hi! Have you met April Smith?

I first met her several years ago, we had both been asked to work a live social media project for a local business. At the time I had no idea that April would soon become not only one of my favorite people in Charlotte but also one of my closest friends. Our mutual love for Charlotte, good food, and being active ensured we would be awesome friends.

April is one of Charlotte’s leading social media authorities and an all around kick-ass girl boss. She has taken her social media marketing business, Social Ape, and grown it expediently. I know I can always count on her for an encouraging words when owning a business can become overwhelming.

What people may not realize about April is her quiet strength. I’ve known her through the roughest and most exhausting year of her life. And while some may have put things on hold, April persevered.

Without further ado I present to you April Smith. I asked her 6 questions. Her answers are below.

What motivates you to get up every single day?

The fear of disappointing others. I’ve had so many people in my corner cheering me on the last 3 years of growing Social Ape that my worst fear is letting down my biggest supporters if I fail.

What is your least favorite trait about yourself?

I’m really hard on myself at times. I’m my worst critic because I always think that I can be better each day than I was the day before. Even when I land a new client or accomplish a goal, I always wonder “What could I have done better?”.

How would people describe you?

Outgoing, personable, silly, driven, direct, fidgety

What is your greatest indulgence?

Food. Hands down. I basically work out just so I can eat whatever I want. I would love to open a restaurant someday. That’s on my bucket list.

If you have the ear of Charlotte’s public officials what would you tell them?

Charlotte is evolving quickly. Don’t just disregard new ideas for the sake of tradition or what has been done for decades before Charlotte was the impressive city that it is today.

If you could transform into a food item what would it be and why?

Oh, man. Tough question. Pizza? Pizza isn’t too fancy but appreciated by everyone. Pizza will always be a familiar go-to that you can trust.
