Have you supported Pats Place?
Did you know that 1 in 5 children are sexually abused before the age of 18? That’s an alarming statistic.
#WeLoveCLT has been a place of overwhelming positivity. I try hard to ensure that if anyone interacts with my content that they feel good on some level. I met with Amy Amico and Laura Tompkins of Pat’s Place and for the first time in 6 1/2 months left a conversation feeling a little bit lost on where to go with it. Amy and Laura are sweet, quirky and awesome. I loved every minute of our meeting. It’s the horrifying nature of what they deal with on a day to day basis.
Pat’s place is a child advocacy center here in Charlotte that works with children from birth to the age of 18. It’s built to provide a place that promotes healing and reduces trauma from sexual abuse. There’s no way to sugar coat this. People like Amy Amico, Laura Tompkins and everyone they work with over at Pat’s Place are awesome because they get up every single day and in my opinion put their well being aside for others. I truly believe no one is built to handle this kind of thing but there are a bunch of really special people in this world taking one for the team.
Amy and Laura are two of them. Please take just one minute of your day to learn more about Pat’s Place. This is important. Education is everything. Let’s be proactive, not reactive. Tell someone.
I asked both Amy and Laura six questions. Click their pictures below to read their intro’s. Also check out the Pats Place instagram takeover here. It’s one of my favorites.
