Have you met Hailey Cobb?
One of those people that truly “makes Charlotte.”
Hi! Have you met Hailey Cobb?
I’ve known her for a few years now. She’s one of those people that truly “makes Charlotte” for me. She’s a a raving die hard Panthers fan, not afraid to have a strong amount of fun, and straight to the point no matter what the point. On top of all that, she’s a PR pro. She’s on the board of Social Media Charlotte with me for a reason, she knows how to get the word out and create buzz. Her PR pro-ness isn’t all that makes her awesome, she’s the kind of person that makes your day better by just being around her, she’s going to go out of her way to help you, and she’s always good for a laugh. In other words, she’s a friend. And that’s why everyone should meet her.
I asked Hailey 6 questions. Her answers are below her picture.
What are you most passionate about?
This is a difficult question because, as cliche as it sounds, I like to think passion is what drives me entirely. To pick one thing, I’d say I’m incredibly focused and passionate about my work. I’ve always been that way with work, but particularly now as I’m several (busy) months into my own public relations consulting work. Anyone who has ventured down the self-starter path knows the commitment and passion requirements. But, it’s also such a rewarding path to travel.
Also, anyone who knows me or sits near section 543, row 21, at Bank of America Stadium can tell you my feelings on the Carolina Panthers – the word “passion” doesn’t do it justice.
What frustrates you more than anything?
A lack of work / life balance. I’ve been there and it is not only frustrating, but also just makes you feel “ick.” Also, a disorganized email inbox, of which I am guilty.
Who do you look up to and why?
The many self-starters in this city. Both those people I know personally and also those I haven’t yet met. There is something unspeakably brave and inspiring about people who take their passion, step outside of the box and build something on their own. If I’m going to say specifically: My friends at Centerfold Agency (http://www.centerfoldagency.com/) here in Charlotte have served as a great inspiration, support group and family in business and in my life. So yes, I look up to those guys, but don’t tell them I said that 🙂
What’s one thing you’d like to see happen in Charlotte in 5-10 years?
I think Katie Levans said it best in the Charlotte Agenda recently. I’d like to see this amazing Queen City define her identity over the next few years. We are smack in the middle of some crazy (and exciting) growth, but what does that mean for all of us and what this city is becoming? I think we have something really special here and you can see it in our neighborhood developments, our food and brewery scene, our social media community and just our overall culture. It will be exciting to see how we can bring it all together into one strong identity because let’s be honest, Charlotte is a kick ass city.
What’s your greatest indulgence?
Can I say two? Travel and music. They both speak to me in a way that’s hard for me to even describe.
What’s your least favorite trait about yourself?
My cluttered mind. Mental chaos can be exhausting. But, it’s something I’m actively working on. I’ve found to-do lists always helpful. My Bar Method workout classes help. And, remembering to stop and breathe during the day helps 🙂
